Writing Retreat, Winter 2010

I'm a little more than half way through this Winter's writing retreat at Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts , and I have to say it's been a productive ride. I finished "Arapata'an," the feature length SF screenplay that's become a saga both on paper and in my mind, I've updated a series pitch for a TV pilot, and I've started the works on that Space: 2099 project (which may very well go nowhere, but at least I'm giving it a go). Next up on the docket: "Beauty Is..." heavy revisions, and then scripting for "Korea Dreambus!" Way to go, 2010! The view outside my window at Saltonstall. My workspace. Ready to party like it's Space: 1999

As 2009 comes to a close, I have some exciting things to dish on. I am pleased to write that I have had a fruitful conversation with a manager who is interested in reading more of my work. I sent her the latest draft of "Homeworld," and received some excellent notes. I also pitched a couple ideas that they were interested in reading once I get a decent draft done. I have two solid weeks booked at Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts in January, 2010 for a hard-driving writing retreat, in which I will revise "Homeworld" and develop these other projects. One of these "other projects" is going to be a re-imagining of the classic British sci fi series, Space: 1999. I've been wanting to do this for awhile, and with the recent success of Star Trek and BSG, there's no reason why this, too, can't go the distance (if it's done right).
