Springing into summer

There is a lot to report on, friends. Let's run down the list! My short film has been renamed "Souled," which fits the theme and style of the film much better than the long-standing working title Dream House. "Souled" is moving right along in postproduction. I'm in the process of hiring a composer, and I've secured a fantastic sound mix man and a color correction guy. The edit is allllmost picture lock... We're very close! Also the poster is well on its way. That will appear here and everywhere else I can post it as soon as it is ready. Another dream is about to become a reality! I'm headed back to Korea this September to make a pilgrimage to my former town of residence and to the holy sites of the Catholic Korean martyrs. And yes, I'm going to make a film about the experience. The project formerly known as "Korea Dreambus" is being resurrected...appropriately as a Catholic pilgrimage film. Much more on that in the coming weeks! Le...

Update on Dream House

Image
The film is now in the capable hands of an editor in L.A. The first cut looked good, and we continue to work on honing the vision.  We are still in need of finishing funds, so if you are so inclined, please take a look at our Go Fund Me campaign and give what you can. Any little bit helps! Thank you! Dream House Fundraiser

I am rare and undocumented!

No, not as in undocumented worker. So last night at 1:21 a.m. I had a very disturbing experience. In mid-dream, without any connection to the dream or anything else in my waking life, I "heard" a crushing, crashing noise that sounded just like a transformer had blown up. Interestingly, my dream-self and all the other characters in my dream reacted to this sound by falling to the decks, and I was short of breath from the shock of it. The explosion sound didn't seem part of the dream, somehow. Now, I usually dream lucidly, and this was no different, but both my dream-self and my "real" self were astonished at this sound. In other words, I hadn't "created" it as part of the dream I was quite involved with at the time. I woke up with "WTF?" on my lips. My heart was pounding, I turned on the light and went to the window, thinking maybe we were having a freak December thunder storm (it's been raining here on and off for the last few da...

The Metal Ones

Image
Last night I had a very lucid, frightening dream about robots. Rod Serling was brainwashed by the robits . I was visiting an R&D company that insisted the robots would be the best thing that ever happened to humans. I saw them in rows, awaiting activation. These weren't any Will Smith-hating I Robot creeps, or Terminator death machines, or frakkin' Toasters, or even this guy . These were giant, menacing, metal boxy things. And there weren't no vacuum cleaner hose arms, neither. I'm sure that's a death ray in his head. I was being guided on a tour, meant to convince me of the goodness of the robots, but I knew better, and I was scared witless. I faked my agreement and went along with the tour, nodding and smiling all the while. Finally we ended up in a giant lecture hall type of room, with a glassed-in office high above looking down. The room was filled with old robots - not the new ones I'd seen lined up awaiting activation. They were all taking a tes...

Dream from last night: I was in a writing group in some weird basement room of a large building. Two of my friends were in this group; the others were not known to me. In the middle of our meeting, the lights went off and on, and even the emergency lights went off and on. We decided it was safer to leave, so we headed out into the stairwell. I was in the lead, then remembered I'd left my bags (with my writing) in that room, so I ducked back down and got them. By the time I returned to the stairwell, the last of my group, some old guy, had disappeared through one of the upper level doors. I then realized I had no idea where I'd parked. I exited into the first parking level, walked around and but couldn't find the car. I just couldn't remember where it was. I noticed it was pouring rain - not a normal rain, but frightening sheets of water. Someone had their car radio on pretty loud, and I heard the newscaster saying something about weapons of mass destruction, and...
Lately I've been paying attention to dreams, and by that I don't mean lifelong aspirations and goals (although I've certainly been paying more attention to those, too, but that's another post). Rather, I mean the wanderings of the mind in the depths of sleep where the subconscious rules and the conscious mind takes a back seat. I used to keep a dream journal a few years ago, but eventually stopped for one reason or another. I found that notebook about a month ago, and decided it was time to get back to that practice. Right after the last full moon, I began having very detailed, even narrative dreams. At least one of them has a screenplay in the making, I'm sure of it. I also began having dreams driven by that part of me that might be termed "intuition" or "Higher Self" or maybe even my "Spirit Guide." Whatever. One of these intuitive dreams was rather gruesome and had to do with chickens and ovens. That's all I'll say, because...
