Screenplay Competitions

I received some incredibly useful feedback from the judges of the Creative Screenwriting Screenplay Expo Competition . Though I didn't place as a semi-finalist, receiving those notes will really help me strengthen the revisions of the two short scripts I submitted, and will help me keep an eye out for those issues in my other writing as well. For anyone who's ever wondered if competitions are worthwhile, I'd recommend this one. They're out to help writers, not to make a fast buck, sell you coverage services, or other less-than-helpful agenda. Here's to dreaming and writing!

Trazzler Writing Contest

I just entered one of Trazzler.com 's travel writing contests. Please check out my entry here: Jogyesa Temple . I enjoy the challenge of writing a travel piece in 65-120 words, so I'm going to do a few more of them and build that part of my portfolio. Meantime, my fingers are crossed for a win.

Spring Fever

Spring is buying season for screenplays, so I've socked a couple hundred away and today entered "Beauty Is..." and "Arapata'an" into the Nicholls Fellowship in Screenwriting and Scriptapolooza . I've made significant headway on the outline for my Space: 1999 novel, to the point where I just need to start writing the first draft. Luckily, I'm expanding the novella, which is already written, so I have a very hefty chunk to build on. It's been hard getting my head back into the space (heh) because I had checked off DONE with that novella in my mind months ago. But, since working on the outline, I've warmed back up to the characters, especially the ones I'm creating for this story. I've also completed an outline for a new screenplay, a paranormal romantic comedy. Now to start work on the first draft.
